Agriculture in Nigeria contributes about 40% to the nation's GDP employing a substantial number of its rural population in Agriculture, but then why is Nigeria not taking its rightful place amongst the comity of global leaders in food production we may ask? The answer is simple, there are known gaps in the policies of Government relating to Food Security, there are known incidents of insecurity across the nation with farmers being chased out of their farms, the remaining ones are already aging, consequences of age-long unsustainable farming practices that is substantially subsistent at best, and there is no strategic path to encourage or incentivize the younger generation to take over the farms.
So,the plain truth is that Hunger is looming and to feed 220 million Nigerians (soon to double by 2050) sustainably is indeed a big challenge. NAIJA FOODS & DRINKS FIESTA 2025 will be a side show at the AGRISUMMEX 2025, a display of the unique culinary enterprises in Nigeria.
